Your Body Is Fine But The Unrealistic Body Standard Is Not

One of the main reason why I don’t usually view my social media accounts lately is because of how toxic it can be. Like, photos of Billie Eilish normally walking outside in a normal attire, in her normal body is circulating in my timeline right now. I also see Angel Locsin’s photo that shows the changes in her body. Apparently, people are saying that they gained weight, and making fun of it. I thought people are tired of “fat” jokes by now, sadly they aren’t.

Billie and Angel are perfect in their own bodies, as long as they are healthy their bodies are fine. I feel sorry for celebrities who face this kind of scrutiny, that’s why they go to doctors to fix something in their face or body that isn’t even broken in the first place just to get approval, and to satisfy the people. I’m not a follower of Billie but I read that she wears baggy clothes to steer clear of being objectified, it is crazy to think that she really adjusted herself to avoid people from checking her out. To think that her choice of clothing is not just a brand but a protection as well, which clearly shows why with that trending photo.

Angel Locsin on the other hand is a well-known actress in the Philippines who has done a lot of charity works that I often compare her with Audrey Hepburn, she was once named as the sexiest woman in the Philippines, and for me she still is. I read that she’s taking medications that made her gained weight, and as she also said she has no problems with her body, so why do other people seems to have problems with it?

Another thing that I’ve been seeing online is Rebel Wilson’s weight loss. They introduced Rebel Wilson’s “fat amy” persona creating a confident plus-sized representation, and thinking that it was cool but then I learned that Hollywood encouraged Rebel to stay as overweight as she can be, because people “dig” it, and they gain more money. And, now Rebel lost a lot of weight and she’s feeling more herself. This is not contradicting the media’s move with plus-sized representation, I am glad that the entertainment industry is open with diversity but forcing people to be in a shape that they don’t want to be in is not okay.

Another example is the heartthrob Zac Efron, did you know that Zac hated his body in the movie Baywatch? Zac was ripped and really buffed in that movie, he went on a very strict regimen, and even said that he wouldn’t let himself and his body go through it again.

Another is Jacob Elordi in Kissing Booth, he hated his body in the movie too but he said that the movie required him to have his body like that.

For sure, there are more celebrities and other people who experienced this cruel requirement.

For the longest time, society set out some standards that we have to follow; how to act, what is acceptable, and what is beautiful. And the opposite of those are just a subject of a laughing matter or an insult, something that we should change as it somehow degrades our whole being. We are trying to break out from those standards but sadly it isn’t enough, we still have narrow minded people who see these “imperfections” as a joke material. They are happily tearing down people’s spirits because of these standards, making these beautiful people feel less of what they are worth, and for the longest time we have been living in a world full of these kinds of people. It’s our body and we should have control over it, we should be happy with it without feeling insecure and without the need of validation from others. These unrealistic standards are the world’s toxic fuel, it’s time to drain them out and remove from the society’s norms.

Your body is fine, your color is fine, your face is fine, it’s just the society and the world that isn’t fine.

What are your thoughts about the unrealistic standards the society has set out for us?

Cancel “Cancel Culture” #JustSaying

I want to say some things about this trend called “Cancel Culture”. I don’t know why people nowadays became so entitled to their opinions that they think it’s okay to “cancel” someone just because they dislike or got “offended” by a simple statement of a celebrity or personality that they read in too much.

I’m referring to Tyler Joseph’s tweet that some people got offended. He made a joke about using his platform to talk about important things.

I get how “woke” people are now, especially with everything that has been going on with the world. It’s a crazy world right now, and it’s nice to see how people are socially aware about politics and world issues but forcing someone to speak about these issues is a bit too much, people has ways and process to choose what they believe in. Most people are still trying to figure it out, some people are neutral about stuff. And with Tyler Joseph, his “fans” were forcing him to use his platform to spread a message, he made a joke that I actually find corny lol. But people read in too much to it. Someone said that he mocked his fans with that tweet, when in fact Tyler has a dark and weird sense of humor at times. Check his tweets, it’s full of them. He even makes fun of his fans. Anyways, this guy has been using his platform ever since, with his music he saved thousands of lives (including me). And people don’t really need to post it online as a way to support a cause. And you can’t force someone to speak up, they will if they want to.

It’s funny how “fans” treat celebrities and personalities, like they are owed, and these celebrities should do whatever their fans ask them to do. If you don’t like what people does or say on social media, then stop following them instead of spreading it more, which adds more toxicity to this world. This cancel culture needs to stop, I feel sorry for celebrities sometimes they’re not allowed to make mistakes, that’s why a lot of them don’t really go on social media nowadays. And by the way, what effect does this really do? What does cancelling someone does for you? There’s so many bad things happening in this world, and cancelling someone does not solve it. So, I’m cancelling cancel culture. #JustSaying

What are your thoughts about this “Cancel Culture”?

WAKANDA FOREVER

It’s a sad day for the Marvel fans out there. As Chadwick Boseman aka T’Challa or Black Panther passed away at the age of 43 years old. Chadwick had been battling cancer for 4 years, while he was fighting Thanos he was also fighting a much bigger battle and sadly, not even the most advance technology in Wakanda could beat this horrible disease.

May he rest in peace. Sincere condolences to his family.

“GIGI HADID IS LIKE APHRODITE”

Have you guys seen the maternity photos of Gigi Hadid?! 😍 She’s like a goddess right?! A few days ago Gigi Hadid trended worldwide as she released some maternity photos on her Instagram. People were quick to share their thoughts on it, saying how lucky is the child she’s carrying. Being born with Gigi as her mother, and Zayn Malik as her father. I even saw one tweet comparing Gigi to the goddess of love Aphrodite and I’m not complaining about it.

WHO I FOLLOW ONLINE/CURRENT OBSESSIONS

This is a follow up post to my previous one, you know the one where I called out bad content creators (yikes!) as I’ve said who you follow reflects who you are, I know no one asked me who I’m following on social media but Imma share it.

I have two current obsessions right now in terms of internet personality: Bretman Rock & Ashley Ippolito.

Bretman Rock

via Instagram @bretmanrock

I love him because he’s a Filipino like me but living in the U.S and he’s killing it there as Youtuber. He’s a beauty guru/influencer but he actually started as a comedian first and he still does some crazy and funny things until now. Funny thing is he is gay but heterosexual females are all over him because he is that damn fine. His make-up is so on point all the time, I don’t even know how to do a simple make-up 😂. I find him super funny like I literally watch all of his video to make myself laugh lol. He is such a real person that’s what I like about celebrities and personalities, you sense how genuine a person is. He curse a lot though, so viewers discretion if you’re going to watch him 😁

Our internet mom ❤️ Okay, I didn’t expect to like a reactor on Youtube because I find them faking their reactions on what they’re listening or watching but this girl has the funniest reactions and comments, and I find her quirkiness to be cute which adds up to the comedic side of her videos. She’s also just simple and not trying too hard just to make a content. I also appreciate how she gives advice on mental health and using her platform to actually talk about the importance of actually talking about it and taking care of yourself. I’m obsessed with her videos right now, I find myself watching her videos from years ago and I’m seriously laughing too damn hard. She has 3 channels that you could check out:

Ashley Ippolito – personal vlogging channel
Reacts By Ash – Music reaction channel
ur internet mom ash – Movies & TV series reaction channel

These are my current obsessions right now, and I realized that these two has a similarity; they are not afraid to make fun of themselves but at the same time they can kick haters ass 😆
