It’s Hard To Lose Weight If You Are A Filipino

Losing weight is one of the most set New Year’s Resolution. After all those celebration and holidays, and eating all those food, a lot of people are still on their holiday weight. But for Filipinos losing weight is a lot more difficult not because we’re lazy or unmotivated but for these different factors.

Rice

is the staple food of Filipinos, it’s one of the best source of carbohydrates that makes you gain weight and Filipinos can’t live without rice. For every viand there should be a rice, Filipino meal is not complete without it. That’s why if you’re a restaurant owner who offers unlimited rice, best believed Filipinos will love it.

Eating as bonding

Filipinos love to eat and it’s one of the best way to bond with Filipinos. By having a “food trip” or when you want to hang out and drink with a Filipino best pair it with a “pulutan” (snacks). Filipinos are not picky when it comes to food, we will try anything especially when it’s free lol. From personal experience I think I didn’t meet with my friends to just hang out, we always need to have any type of food with us. Even when you visit a family member you’re ask to eat and sometimes you can’t say no lol.

Celebrations are everywhere

We celebrate everything, and of course we celebrate it with food. We celebrate good grades, one week of a new born baby, every payday, or just by being in a good mood you name it.

Diet is a joke

as much as I want to hype how fun being a Filipino is, there are some toxic Filipino traits that we as a Filipino also hate. When you say that you’re on a diet here in the Philippines, they will look at you skeptically and doesn’t believe you can go through it. It’s one of a toxic trait for some Filipinos, they kind of discourage you for losing weight but when you don’t they’ll say a statement straight to your face that you gain weight (parang tumaba ka).

Overall losing weight is all about the mindset, it’s not really about the nationality. If you want to do something set your mind on it, and do the best you can to achieve it. I’m writing this because this is my New Year’s Resolution right now, to lose weight and be fit again. I have been binge eating every now and then, and this year I will really do my best to achieve this goal.

What is your New Year’s Resolution?

Dear Santa,

If I was five I would have asked you for a toy
but I grew up fast and never believed in you.
If I ever did I would have asked you for joy
a thing that was stolen and I never knew.

When I was ten I had a Christmas wish,
no one ever knew, I thought you did.
Other kids would never had it on their list
but I didn’t grew up as a normal kid.

That was fourteen years ago
and I still have that same wish,
after all the time that had flown
there’s still something that I miss.

Forgive this melodramatic poem, it’s Christmas and we should all be happy at least for today. It has been a crazy year for all of us but let today be full of happiness and forget all of your problems just for a little while. I would like to send my warmest hugs to those who lost someone or something due to the pandemic. We’ve all been through a lot this year, we all deserve to take a break and enjoy this holiday. Cheers to everyone and Merry Christmas!

6 Positive Habits to Maintain After the Pandemic

The pandemic forced all of us to make adaptations in our daily lives. We had to find new ways to work, exercise, educate our children, shop, socialize, and relieve stress. While adopting these changes hasn’t been easy, people have picked up some excellent habits as a result. Don’t let these positive behaviors disappear with the pandemic! Here are some great habits to hang onto even after the coronavirus is over.

Practice Self-Care at Home

The pandemic helped many of us realize that we don’t need to take a vacation or a trip to the spa for self-care. There are endless ways to practice self-care at home! Do yoga, cook a healthy meal, take a hot bath, try meditation, or create a calming evening routine. Cleansing your home of bad energy will also serve your self-care goals, especially if spending most of your time around the house these days. Redfin suggests transforming your home into a vibrant, rejuvenating space by cleaning, decluttering, and opening the windows to let fresh air flow through your space.

Make Time for Fun

Having fun is an essential element of any self-care routine. Although the pandemic stole many of our favorite pastimes, it opened the door to new types of fun. People picked up new hobbies, discovered new passions, and explored different types of entertainment.

For example, video games skyrocketed in popularity during COVID-19! Playing online video games is an excellent way to connect with friends and make new ones when you can’t go out and socialize in person. If you want to jump on the bandwagon, make sure your internet connection can handle online gaming. A fiber-optic connection from a provider like Verizon will minimize buffering and ensure your games run smoothly.

Spend More Time Outside

Looking to get out of the house? Head into the great outdoors! Nature offers excellent refuge from the stuffy interior of our homes during the pandemic. Plus, it’s easy to practice social distancing when we have plenty of space to spread out and steer clear of others. Spending time in natural environments is fantastic for our mental health, so try to maintain this habit going forward.

Pursue Your Passions

Making the switch to remote work—or losing work altogether—has prompted many people to pursue their passions and start home-based businesses. Starting your own business is an exciting way to earn a living and enjoy greater freedom in your professional life. If you’re preparing to launch a business right now, make sure you do it right! Forming an LLC can help you tackle your legal requirements and protect your personal assets from business debts or liabilities. Online formation services can help you cost-effectively navigate the steps involved in filing an LLC in your state.

Support Local Businesses

Remember to support other small businesses too! Many small businesses are still struggling to stay afloat in the wake of the lockdown, and your patronage can help them out. These small businesses provide jobs to your neighbors and keep money in your local economy. Whenever possible, buy your products from small businesses instead of big-box stores and major chains.

Wash Your Hands

It’s no secret that the pandemic has encouraged all of us to prioritize personal hygiene. In fact, 90% of Americans reported washing their hands more thoroughly after the outbreak. Frequent hand washing is a trend that can reduce rates of infection for numerous illnesses beyond COVID-19, including the common cold and the seasonal flu. Keeping your hands clean is one of the best ways to prevent illness and avoid spreading germs to others, so keep it up!

While no one can dispute the negative ramifications of the pandemic, this crisis has encouraged people around the world to pick up healthy habits and make positive lifestyle changes. Many of these trends have the potential to improve your health, happiness, and financial wellness into the future! So what positive changes have you noticed during the pandemic that you’d like to keep?

Pray For The Philippines | #UlyssesPH #RescuePH

From Rappler

Last night I didn’t get to fall asleep because of this strong typhoon that my country is currently experiencing, I didn’t sleep because I could hear the wind that made the roofs and trees sounded like they’re either going to fly off or break at any moment. Thankfully, our area is currently fine now but some areas are now flooded up to their roofs.

Typhoon Ulysses with international name Vamco is currently setting catastrophe on some regions in Luzon. The country is currently experiencing heavy rains causing flash floods along with strong wind, knocking down trees and roofs flying. A lot of residents are now calling to be rescued on social media as two-story level flood are taking over their houses.

Hashtags #UlyssesPH #RescuePH is now trending on twitter as some people use these tags to get help.

This typhoon is the 4th typhoon that came in the country in just less than a month. Please pray for the Philippines as some areas haven’t recovered yet from the previous typhoons and it’s so devastating that they are experiencing this catastrophe all over again.

Better Days

Thinking back to the time when I was still traversing the dark side of my life and comparing it to where I am now, it still feels surreal that I overcame that, back then I was so ready to give up. I never believed that “it will get better” but here I am now, better than I ever was.

Struggles and better days are always together. Rains and rainbows as well. Always remember that.
