I also loved the message about love— that love is the only thing that can save the world which is very timely to what is happening in this world right now with all those terror attacks.
Diana wanted to stop the war by killing the God of war which is Ares, she believed that by killing him, it would stop all the war that is happening but as she thought that she killed him, the violence didn’t stop, she was confused and frustrated because Diana believed that people are good and were just corrupted by Ares. Steve (Chris Pine) explained to her that the bad things that are happening does not rely on one man and maybe that not all people are good, Diana was so upset that she almost gave up on trying to save the world and saying that the world doesn’t deserve (good) people like her and being saved but Steve reminded her that it’s not about “deserve”, it’s about what you believe, this is probably the most used quote right now.
But it’s true, it’s really about what you believe in and it’s not about what you think you deserve or what you think other people deserve, if you believe in goodness and in love stand by it no matter how corrupted this world is. The innocence, the faith in humanity and the pure heart of Diana are the things that everyone of us lack, how everything in her eyes were plain simple. There is a war, stop it. There is someone who needs help, help them. If there’s a problem you initially solve them. Why can’t it be like this? Why can’t we all be like Diana? Do we not believe in goodness and in love anymore? Are we really corrupted by Ares? (some things we all need to think about).
The movie was awesome, I loved it. I loved Gal Gadot and Chris Pine in it, it was empowering and it was funny as well. It was a bit cheesy too because of that “love speech” but love was meant to be cheesy right?
